Lori Freshwater shares her experience growing up at Camp Lejeune, drinking, cooking, and bathing in contaminated water. Poised to be the largest environmental contamination in the US, Freshwater shares memories and lasting effects of the government's negligence towards military families exposed at Camp Lejeune.
As an author and investigative health and science journalist, Lori Freshwater serves as a leading voice among Camp Lejeune contamination survivors. Freshwater received her MA in Journalism from the City University of New York and based her capstone piece on her experience at Lejeune. Beyond her personal experience at Lejeune, Freshwater served on the CDC’s Camp Lejeune Community Assistance Panel for nearly a decade. Freshwater is currently working with the University of Chicago Press on a book discussing environmental contamination by the Department of Defense.
